Mayday, Mayday, Mayday

This is notice of a Parish celebration event organised by the Goodnestone Parish Council. Please make a note of it in your diary.

Why: We felt that the campaign to save the Post Office this year and the schools recent success since it was under threat in 2006 called for some sort of celebration. We also hope that we will be able to unveil the memorial stone to the late Lord FitzWalter if it has been erected by this time. There may also be good news by then on traffic calming in Goodnestone and Chillenden.

When: Between 11 .00  and about 3 .00 on May Bank Holiday, Monday 26.5.08

Where: On the Millennium field.

What will be happening:

*      There will be drinks and a barbeque from 12 noon. You are invited to bring your own food and drinks in the form of a picnic. The Parish Council will provide some refreshments and BBQ food can be purchased.

*      There will be a rounders match which all can join in. Sides will be organised as soon as we have enough players. All equipment will be provided. This will take place on the Recreation ground (Fairfield), which can now be reached via the new path from the Millennium field. This will probably start at about 1.00.

*      There will be a tug-of-war match between people from Goodnestone and Chillenden.

*      Other things that we haven't thought of yet. Any suggestions? Music?? Children's games?

Who is invited: Everyone (all ages) who lives in the Parish of Goodnestone and Chillenden, and their friends and relatives.

What should I do: Please tell others about this event; organise a group to attend; buy your food and drink; plan your outfit; practice your rounders skills; and pray for good weather.
